Take Your Daddy to Work Day

Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart ~Proverbs 27:11

Little one is always up early, insistent to be dressed, fed and ready for the day before anyone.  Today was his special day and he didn’t even know it.  His daddy made the announcement while downing his plain oatmeal.  Little eyes went wide as saucers and twinkled brighter than ever.  He was going to work that day.

It was a plan devised days before, my grand idea to give each of the children a bit of special time with dad, a glimpse into the work world, and some variety in their summer.  Fortunately, the man in charge went along with it, even agreed wholeheartedly.  Here’s how my plan unfolds:

Their big day comes when least expected.  It must be a slow day at the office, with no one off for the day.

We started with the youngest, who proudly escorted dad to the truck, and I was to pick him up within two hours.  Each of them stays a little longer, based on maturity.

A water bottle and healthy snack is sent.  Soda pop wins (ugh), as evidenced by the photo.

Actual work is to be done.  I’m not really sure what tasks the three-year-old accomplished, but I do know the whole staff had fun with remote control coptors, the resident cat, and witty toddler conversation.

The mom bus arrives, just slightly late.  A good time is had by all.
